I know that it’s been a while since I’ve done an album of the week and for that I apologize. It’s not that I haven’t been listening to any music, cause I’m constantly listening to something, it’s just that it’s been a while since I’ve heard something that really made me stop and say, “Holy shit this is amazing.” Well, that exact quote was said by me yesterday when I bought Camu Tao’s “King of Hearts.”

So let me start this review off by saying that I have waited a very very very long time for this album to come out. I first caught wind of it’s potential release over 3 years ago when video was released of Big Boi listening to “Fo Yo Sorrows” in a studio, supposedly right after the song had just been recorded. Working with artist/computer programmer Rob Bairos, the video was recorded entirely off of a vintage oscilloscope. Oscilloscopes are used for viewing voltages, primarily in the sciences, medicine, engineering, telecommunications and industry. Though other people have reprogrammed oscilloscopes to display images in the past, the “video to scope” process used in this video is the first of its kind. The images you see are made up of a single point of light, moving quickly across a screen in order to draw shapes – that means the entire Born Ruffians video for “What to Say” displays vector images made from only one continuous line. The footage was shot once on video, edited, converted for use on the oscilloscope (using a live visuals program called TouchDesigner) and then shot again directly off the vintage machine.

I saw them perform a couple weeks back and it was amazing. Best live show I have ever seen. When I saw that they released this for free I figured I would share it with everyone that visits our blog. Whenever I happen to come across more free downloads I …
