Album You Should Be Listening To This Week – King of Hearts by Camu Tao

I know that it’s been a while since I’ve done an album of the week and for that I apologize. It’s not that I haven’t been listening to any music, cause I’m constantly listening to something, it’s just that it’s been a while since I’ve heard something that really made me stop and say, “Holy shit this is amazing.” Well, that exact quote was said by me yesterday when I bought Camu Tao’s “King of Hearts.”

This Is How You Play an MPC

What you are about to watch completely blew my mind. I’ve seen a lot of people completely slaughter an MPC before but never with this intensity and style. This is araabMUZIK, the producer for dipset. I don’t really have much more to say other than watch how insane this is.

Grass Widow Debut LP

Grass Widow falls somewhere between post-punk and dream-pop with moments of retro surfer music. Their delicate harmonies accentuate the commanding, wacked-out instrumentals and makes the trio totally compelling.

Album You Should Be Listening to This Week – Big Boi – Sir Lucious Left Foot (The Son of Chico Dusty)

So let me start this review off by saying that I have waited a very very very long time for this album to come out. I first caught wind of it’s potential release over 3 years ago when video was released of Big Boi listening to “Fo Yo Sorrows” in a studio, supposedly right after the song had just been recorded. Since then it had been one delay after another. The release date continued to get pushed back very couple months due to legal issues and the inability to find …

Free Album Download – Cannibal Ox/Animal Collective – Animal Ox

About 6 months ago I posted my first album review for the D-Structured website, it was Cannibal Ox – The Cold Vein. To sum up that review very quickly it is my opinion that it is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. The production was done by the legendary El-P and the vocals were handled by Vast Aire and Vordul Megallah. The 3 of them combined created not only a classic album, but also one of the most influential in the underground scene.
I was informed by my …

Born Ruffians – What to Say (VOTD)

Working with artist/computer programmer Rob Bairos, the video was recorded entirely off of a vintage oscilloscope. Oscilloscopes are used for viewing voltages, primarily in the sciences, medicine, engineering, telecommunications and industry. Though other people have reprogrammed oscilloscopes to display images in the past, the “video to scope” process used in this video is the first of its kind. The images you see are made up of a single point of light, moving quickly across a screen in order to draw shapes – that means the entire Born Ruffians video for “What to Say” displays vector images made from only one continuous line. The footage was shot once on video, edited, converted for use on the oscilloscope (using a live visuals program called TouchDesigner) and then shot again directly off the vintage machine.

Maxine’s Video Pick of the Day

A 1960’s musical number of what english sounds like to mod italians. I’ve never seen anyone sing total gibberish with so much conviction.
absurd, cheesy and totally catchy.

Free Album Download – Greenhouse Effect – Electric Purgatory Part 1

Below is the link to a free promotional album download from Greenhouse Effect. If you don’t know Greenhouse Effect they are the band I suggested for album of the week and this version of Greenhouse consists of Blueprint and Illogic. I saw them perform a couple weeks back and it was amazing. Best live show I have ever seen.  When I saw that they released this for free I figured I would share it with everyone that visits our blog. Whenever I happen to come across more free downloads I …
