Sean Taylor Chapman
In 1982, artist Sean Taylor Chapman was born in Northern Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley where he lived for 21 years. He attended Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Fl where he continued to pursue his love for drawing. After graduating with his B.F.A. in May 2007, he immediately moved to San Francisco where he currently resides in the Mission District.
Sean draws most of his inspiration from music, film, and most recently the infamous San Francisco fog. Starting with the simplicities of pencil and charcoal, he then transfers his work to photoshop where he works his magic with a Wacom tablet. The creations are then finally printed on cotton rag and mounted on hand built wood frames.
Sean’s most recent installation “Magnetic/Fields” is based on his fascination with space in which he develops themes of weightlessness, beauty, solitude, and unfamiliar forms.
