About the artist Joshua Laywer:
Joshua lawyer works on found wood with a mix of colored led, acrylic as well as house paint and any other kind of paint he can get his hands on. His intentions with found wood are to take something that is garbage to most and make it a beautiful painting. In a way every painting is in its self a redemption story.

“I want to paint life with a bit of fairytale to the painting. I want the shapes of their bodies to be a part of the story as much as the expression on their faces, I want the backgrounds of the painting to be a tool to highlight the person. I want to question were the people are in life and how they got there. to see god in them see their pain see love in them and their broken hearts. I want there to be humor in the paintings as well as sorrow. I want them to be complicated and chaotic. Want the viewer to see a little part of them self in the painting or maybe a girl they use to know, a girl from a day were life took them to a place they wish they could go back to. “

Fluffy water is a simple and odd way of describing a cloud. So the reason I called the show fluffy water is to explain what I’m trying to do with my paintings in a subtle way. A lot of times I am trying to explain something from different points of view or trying to hit a problem from angels you would never expect. So fluffy waters is a small example of trying to explain something as simple as a cloud in a new and fresh way.

About DSSF:
D-Structure San Francisco or DSSF as it has been come to be known as, is hard to define upon first impressions. DSSF is a clothing label, with it’s headquarters and flagship store in San Francisco. DSSF’s mission is to bring together like minded individuals and through their collective strengths, passions, and efforts, create more then just a clothing line, but a community and culture that thrives on art, music and fashion. The first Friday of every month DSSF brings a new artist through and has them envelop the store as their canvas. Artists are asked to create installments to bring more to the space than white walls and hanging frames, this is what causes most people who stumble into DSSF, to stop, look, and say “wow”. Being more then just a clothing label, gallery and retail store, DSSF hosts events monthly that range from live indie rock performances, hip hop album release parties, and Live DJ’s. Other nights have been known to have benefit fund raisers, exclusive after parties, and more.
